So I saw the Hobbit (the very last one... sad) yesterday and can we just TALK about how I've been in this exact spot?! Probably the coolest part of all of the movies now for me will be the Shire because I've stood in that EXACT spot!! Sure there were less Hobbits around, but still a few! (I admire the people who dressed up..)
Ok. I was REALLY excited about this movie... Braden too but this blog isn't about him. Like I could barely work all day since all I wanted to do was watch the other two movies in prelude.. but I am, after all, a responsible adult.
And yes I wore a NZ shirt, a NZ bone neclace, AND my HOBBIT hat from on location! Yes, I was possibly one of the most legit people in that theater. (Who else can say they spent thousands of dollars to fly to NZ and see the place?)
And of course Braden has a hat too.. Merry Christmas! haha
This was actually after the movie I'm afraid.. which explains why I'm squinting to hide the fact that I cried. Real tears people!
Spoiler alert: Because I need to vent it out! The Hobbit.. was ... was.. a friend (in the words of Bilbo Baggins describing Thorin Oakenshield) I cannot express how sad I am that there are no more movies to look forward too! (Please Peter Jackson make the Silmarillion!!!)
Only a few complaints: 1 Not sure I liked where the movie started. Sure the end of the 2nd movie was SUPER cool... but unless you're watching them back to back, I feel a little unsatisfied with the amount of dragon in the 3rd movie.. I mean it's over like that!
2. not really a complaint but I forgot Kili and Fili died!! I was obsessed with Filli and Tauriel little love story Peter Jackson created and seriously wept when Fili died.. (at least their deaths were pretty glorious.. no complaints there)
3. I REALLY hated Lord Thandruil's little shpeel at the end... Honestly I didn't feel like Legolas needed his dad to tell him to go find Strider. It seemed very disconnected from the rest of the movie and from their characters and honestly did not need to be included. (Braden is comforting me by suggesting maybe the extended additions have more on this... maybe)
Good things?
BATTLE SCENES! All of them were so well done! And the acting was phenomenal by ALL! Favorite favorite part?! When Thorin steps back and lets Azog slip beneath the ice.. the expressions on their faces and situation was perfect! just all in all.. It was a great ending and a great movie! Now to watch all 3 in a row and decide which one I really like the most..
And of course some point in the future... to make my way back to New Zealand and see ALL of the LOTR sights!
Over~ Amanda
