Grand Canyon Day 1 We dropped our car off at the South Rim and rode with my family up to the North Rim where my mom dropped us off at the North Kaibab trail. All along the way to the North Rim we were seeing massive thunder clouds right over the canyon and the family was trying to convince us not to go... after all who wants to get rained on... However we still went, but not without taking a picture in front of the national park sign which is a must at all national parks... of course :] The girls and my mom walked us down a few 100 feet to see us off... the rain clouds didn't look promising! above: incredible view of the North Rim! Rainy or not, the sights still took our breath away! Left: here we are near the beginning.. looking across at what we would be facing! The first tunnel we came across! Nice landmarks to let us know how far we had come and how much further we had! Above: The Grand view! You can see our trail we wou...

After the ghost town we headed to the shuttles and rode it to the grotto stop, where we started on the trail for Angel's Landing. This is about a quarter of the way up on the first set of switch backs! Luckily we had shade because it wasn't too hot, unfortunately our picture is in the shade as well. Left: Naturally we saw a cave like hole... and had to climb up to it. Here we are at the end of the "in between" The you up the front of angel's landign and then head down a canyon beside it (a nice break between switchbacks) plus it's breezy, shady, and just downright cool! Also p.s. this trail is awesome, it is paved all the way up to the top where you start walking on the rocks. Such a nice change! I love it! across from me is this view of Ty with part of the canyons up behind him! What everyone overly exaggerated was the difficulty and awefullness of the switchbacks: well here's a picture of them looking up... nothing compared to the...

This past weekend we went to Zion National Park with our friends Megan and Kyler before they move to Idaho :/ It wasn't the big long week trip I was hoping for, but we at least got to do 2 of the most famous hikes and we really enjoyed it! We camped 2 nights for free only like 5 minutes from the park entrance. We drove down Friday and set up camp. We weren't tired till later so we stayed up and looked at the stars! It was so dang clear! Probably the best star gazing I've ever done! And Megan had astronomy lasers which were awesome! Have to get some of those.... Saturday morning we woke up bright and early and headed to the Zion outfitters. They're surprisingly cheap, although Ty and I are cheaper and decided to just go with the shoes we brought (no super nerdy- yet awesome water shoes for us) Then we boarded the shuttle to ride it allll the way to the end to do... THE NARROWS Above: Tyler climbed up into the hole which was kinda hard because the water droppe...

This past weekend we hiked to Mt. Timp. We woke up bright and early at 4:30 to get there by 6, little did we know how busy it gets! We parked over a mile uphill away from the actual trailhead! Starting out it was freezing, my upper body was fine but my legs sure were cold.! We hiked the first 2-3 hours and really enjoyed it. We kept saying this is so much easier than the y! Why did everyone say it's so hard? And it's true, you barely feel like you're going uphill the majority of the time which makes the trail really nice, and we hardly ever had to take breaks. In the top and side picture we took our only 15 min break to sit down and rest. I'm sitting in front of the summit... which we were about to climb up to, and Ty is facing out to the rest of the meadow! It was so beautiful! In the top picture we're hiking up to the saddle which is where we switch to climbing behind the mountain. Left: me in the saddle before we started the climb! Tyler wit...
